Women's Health in March: PMS
This entire month we have focused on women's health, and now we're tackling an issue that affects about 40% of women: PMS. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a constellation of symptoms, both physical and psychological, that can start about 1 to 2 weeks before your period. Symptoms can include: feeling irritable, bad-tempered, depressed, or anxious; headaches; cramps; bloating; weight gain; poor sleep; breast tenderness; poor concentration; increased acne; constipation or diarrhea; food cravings; fatigue. If you've ever experienced any of these, you know at times they can be pretty severe. In fact, about 5-10% of women suffer from severe symptoms [1].
PMS and CBD
As we learned last week, women are turning to CBD (hemp extract) more and more for gender specific issues. Recently, women have started using CBD (hemp extract) to alleviate PMS symptoms. Due to the fact that hemp extract works on the endocannabinoid system in the body, hemp extract can alleviate some of the symptoms of PMS, listed below. Check out the graphic from Medium below to learn more about which PMS symptoms CBD can help you with.
